Mix-A-Week 5/11 – Suburban Skyline
With my first class-free summer coming up for the first time in a couple of years, and unmitigated access to the studios here at IU, I’ve made it a mission of mine to put together at least one new mix a week until the Fall semester starts. Why? I don’t mix enough. I have an overall distaste for the studio, and combined with how packed they are during the school year, I don’t spend much of my free time working on the music I’ve recorded. Since my final semester is coming up, I’ll be enrolled in A461, which is basically where we sit down with the head of our program and walk through mixes and start putting together a finalized portfolio of things. Even if I have no intention of working in a studio once I graduate, it will be a good exercise, and I think a “Mix-A-Week” can only help me prepare for it.

So without further adieu, I present my first mix for the summer: Busted Creek’s “Suburban Skyline”. If my memory serves correct, this was tracked in the Fall of 2008, and was my first project with a traditional rock band. Give it a listen and feel free to let me know what you think!
